Composition of Cefurax:
Each tablet contains: CEFUROXIME 250mg or 500mg.
Inactive ingredients: Croscarmellose sodium; Crospovidone; Sodium laurylsulfate; Castor oil, hydrogenated; Methylcellulose; Silica, precipitated; Hypromellose; Cellulose microcrystalline; Macrogol 8 stearate; Talcum; Titanium Dioxide.
Therapeutic action:
Antibiotic for the Cefurax treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to Cefurax.
When should Cefurax not be used?
Do not use Cefurax tablets if you are hypersensitive to one of its ingredients or to cephalosporin antibiotics. |
This drug should not be used without consulting your physician before commencing treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you suffer or have suffered in the past from dysfunction of kidney/urinary system, gastro-intestinal tract (e.g. ulcer, colitis).
If you are hypersensitive to penicillins.
Warnings:
If you are hypersensitive to any food or drug especially this drug, inform your physician prior to commencing treatment.
Inform your physician if you undergo blood sugar tests regularly.
Cefurax interactions:
If you are taking another drug, or if you have just finished treatment with another drug, you must consult your physician to avoid risks or inefficacy arising from drug interactions. Especially with drugs from the following groups: diuretics, probenicide, drugs which reduce gastric acidity.
Side Effects of Cefurax:
In addition to the desired effects of the drug, some side effects may appear during treatment with Cefurax, such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, pruritus, local changes in the skin.
Effects Which Demand Special Treatment:
Severe and prolonged diarrhea or acute stomach pain, allergic reactions such as skin rash, oedema or difficulty in breathing, swelling of eyelid, face or lips (rare):
discontinue treatment and contact your physician immediately.
Rectal bleeding (rare): discontinue treatment and contact your physician. Change in the colour of the eyes or skin to yellow (rare): discontinue treatment and contact your physician.
If you experience any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet or if there has been any change in your general health, consult your physician immediately.
Cefurax dosage:
According to physician's instructions only. Don't exceed the recommended dosage.
The usual dosage is: 125mg - 250mg, twice daily. In severe infection of respiratory tract: 500mg, twice daily.
This drug is not usually intended for infants below the age of 3 months. This drug should be taken at fixed periods of time as determined by the physician. If you forget to take this drug at its fixed time, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, under no circumstances should two doses be taken together.
